A man has died due to an open manhole in the road at Basti Jodhewal Chowk on Saturday night. The man is survived by his wife and two young children.
Several people blocked the traffic on the road Sunday morning demanding an FIR against the MCD officials and the involved contractor of the manhole.
The contractor was eventually booked by the police named Amrit Lal due to leaving the manhole open.
The man who died was named Mohan Lal who lived in Gopal Nagar, Tibba road and worked as a cutting expert at a local hosiery factor.
Mohan Lal suffered serious injuries to the head due to hitting the manhole.
Local people who seen the man crash into the manhole took the man to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police officials have told the press that barricades were up before the accident but removed before the incident took place.
