A Yuba City man — Harbans Singh — was pronounced dead at the scene of a Highway 99 accident Thursday. A car driven by Singh, 69, became lodged beneath the trailer of a big-rig truck at about 5:40 p.m.
The victim’s name was released Friday morning by the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department.
Singh was traveling north on Highway 99 near Oswald Road in a 2014 Honda when he collided with the truck as it was turning left. The truck was exiting the Chevron Gas Station to travel south on Highway 99, said the California Highway Patrol.
The truck was driven by Victor Manual Vasquez, 55, of Pomona. Neither he nor his passenger were injured.
The collision is under investigation. Witnesses are encouraged to call the Yuba Sutter CHP office at 674-5141.
