Video Surfaces of PM Trudeau Saying “I have more Sikhs in my cabinet than Modi”

Prime Minister of Canada is on a three day visit to Washington with his delegate to meet with President Obama to strengthen relations between the two countries. Canadian Defense Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan was seen in the Oval Office of the White House meeting with President Obama.

The Cabinet of the Canadian Government is composed of five Sikhs and two turban wearing Sikhs. The Canadian Parliament consists of 28 Punjabis from across Canada.


Canadian reporter for Bloomberg Josh Wingrove tweeted saying:

PM Trudeau was answering questions from students invited to the White House. While being asked a questions regarding the Canadian Cabinet, Trudeau laughed and said “I have more Sikhs in my cabinet than Modi does”

“I have more Sikhs in my cabinet than Modi does,” Trudeau jokes in Washington.”

He followed up with the following tweet:

As an aside, PMO has in past said the precise nimber of Sikhs in cabinet is not an easy question (presumably based on how observent etc?).

PM Trudeau also spoke about the Turban when asked about racist attacks against Muslims and those who are perceived to be Muslims.
