(DSU News Bureau) Over 250 Singhs and Kaurs were arrested near Gurdwara Amb Sahib in Mohali. The Sikhs were headed to Punjab CM Badal’s home in Chandigarh to protest for the release of Sikh political prisoners who have completed their required terms.
However, the Punjab Police rounded the Sikhs up and arrested them. As shown in the pictures and videos the women were harassed by lady constables. Many of the people who were arrested were regular sangat who was visiting Gurdwara Amb Sahib.
The morcha has taken a critical turn after the state government refuses to listen to the demands of the Sikhs or even engage in a conversation with the representatives of Bapu Surat Singh. Bapu Surat Singh has been on hunger strike for 124 days.
The young Kaur stated the police manhandled her and her friends. The Kaur named Pavdeep came from Pune to visit Chandigarh and wasn’t aware of the situation at Gurdwara Amb Sahib.
Pavdeep Said, “We were here to pay respects to Guru and they attacked our turban.” When asked did you say you weren’t related to the morcha, she said, “We tried telling them but they wouldn’t listen.”
She further stated they grabbed us by the arms and pushed us around for no reason. The incident at Mohali was widely shared on social networks.
