Baba Banda Singh Bahadur made many caves and escape routes underground in the event of an unexpected Mughal attack. One of the caves is just north of Ropar near the Shivalik Hills that now has a Gurdwara built at the spot.
The caves have had infiltration of soil through the rain which has caused many of them to plug up. The surviving caves are not in great condition and likely due to rain water will end up being entirely plugged if not taken care of.
The caves are a tremendous reminder of history on how Baba Banda Singh used the caves to his advantage and where he would hold important meetings. The recent re-discovery of the caves have started to gain interest among people to visit the site.
