Torn angs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji were foind at the Bist-Doab canal near village Nahla in Jalandhar. A Sikh named Princepal Singh noticed something floating in the Canal when coming back from his daily prayers at the local Gurdwara. He looked carefully and realized the pages were from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and he gathered local Sikhs to take them out of the canal.
According to Hindustan Times, the angs were from 3 different Sri Guru Granth Sahib saroops. Over 100 people quickly gathered at the site to recover all angs and started prayers onsite.
The news spread through town and Jalandhar City where protests are taking place over the sacrilege. Kapurthala Chowk was blocked by the Sikhs and heavy police were deployed.
The Sikhs are demanding immediate arrest of the individuals involved in the sacrilege.
