Torrential rainfall has caused massive devastation on the way to Sri Hemkund Sahib. An estimated 4,000 Sikhs are stranded at various places to Sri Hemkunt Sahib after 3 bridges from Gobind Ghat to Gobind Dham have been reported to have collapsed.
A TOI journalist has reported:
Around 3,500 pilgrims have been halted at Badrinath while 2,500 pilgrims bound for Hemkund have been stopped at Ghangaria. “We are closely following the advisory of the weather department which has forecast rains in the next 72 hours. Pilgrims will be allowed to proceed when the weather clears up. Otherwise, the yatra will be suspended as long as it continues to rain,” the DM said.
