The swine flu epidemic in India has caused nearly 20,000 people to be infected with the virus and has already claimed 1,041 lives.
The exponential rise in swine flu is occurring major states such as Rajasthan and Gujarat where most cases are being reported. Rajasthan and Gujarat have had the biggest outbreak with 234 and 231 deaths, respectively.
Few months ago, majority of the swans at Sukhna Lake were reported to have died which didn’t prevent people from visiting the lake even after authorities had sealed the area. This was the first warning of the deadly Flue virus making a comeback.
The incoming rainy weather is expected to contribute in a steep rise of the cases. The World Health Organization has released a statement stating the outbreak of the H1N1 virus will be larger then in 2009.
The state of Gujarat has imposed a ban of public gather of more than 5 people to slow the growth the of virus.
Symptoms for swine flu include high fever, headache, muscle pain, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain and internal and external bleeding.
