The Indian Supreme Court has ruled against the Punjab government and ruled that the construction of the canal must continue. The ruling was related to an 11 year old case when Captain Amrinder Singh’s bill of stopping construction of SYL Canal was passed in the Lok Sabha and handed over the Supreme Court for review.

The Court has ruled the Canal construction has to be handed over to the central government and must continue. Before the decision, Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal stated he won’t allow anyone to enter Punjab to start construction.

All Congress Lok Sabha MPs have resigned their seats and many are resigning from Punjab Government also.
