A Granthi named Bachittar Singh from Kelowana, Canada was awarded $313,000 due to injuries from 2 car accidents that left him handicapped.
Bachittar Singh was hired as a granthi at a Gurdwara Sahib in Canada but due to his injuries he was unable to sit cross legged on the floor.
The British Columbia Supreme Court Justice John Trustcott gave the award after taking into consideration the future damage incurred to Bachittar Singh due to his injuries and his inability to work as a Granthi.
The granthi Singh said he is unable to sit cross legged anymore and can only stand or sit in a chair which prevents him from doing his Granthi job.
“It is my conclusion the two motor vehicle accidents only aggravated or exacerbated his existing active back and neck pain that preceded the first accident,” concluded the judge.
Bachittar Singh was given $88,000 for lost wages, $175,000 for loss of future earnings, and $50,000 for pain and suffering.
