Patiala, 18 September 2015: Due to land disputes, a court has issued summons to a Gurdwara Sahib in Village Madumajra near Patiala.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, the SGPC has decided to meet the chief justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Reportedly, two brother named Baldev Singh and Krishan Singh had decided to donate 1 Kanal of land to a Gurdwara Sahib in village Madumajra.
After receiving written notification, the Gurdwara committee took over the land and without a registry. A man from the same village named Gurban Singh protested against the donation to the Gurdwara Sahib. The two brothers were purchasing the land from Gurban Singh who was against the donation to the Gurdwara Sahib.
In relation to the land dispute matter, Gurban took to court over the issue and the court sent out summons to the Gurdwara Sahib calling for a mandatory appearance.
The Gurdwara Committee through a lawyer presented their side of the case on September 15, 2015. The next hearing on the court has been set for 25th September. The Gurdwara committee has met with the SGPC and Akal Takht on the matter. The head of the Committee Roop Singh said, “I Don’t know how to handle or solve this situation.”
Senior lawyer Barjinder Singh Sodhi has stated the issuing of the summons was very unfortunate and should’ve never happened. The SGPC has decided to take control of the matter so that something similar won’t happen again.
