The Deputy CM S Sukhbir Singh Badal visited the homes of Gurjit Singh and Krishan Bhagwan Singh, who were killed during Police action at Behbal Kalan village last month.
Punjab Deputy Chief Minister S. Sukhbir Singh Badal today announced that the state government would provide a job in keeping with the educational qualifications to one family member of the victims of firing tragedy, Gurjit Singh and Krishan Bhagwan Singh who were killed in village Bargari recently.
During his visits to village Sarawaan and Behbal khurd today, Deputy Chief Minister expressed profound grief over the tragic deaths of the 2 youths. He assured the families of both the victims that whoever is found guilty in the firing incident, would be dealt with in accordance with provisions of law. He also assured both the families that Shiromani Akali Dal would always stand by the distressed families in their hour of need.
Conceding a demand of the villagers Mr Badal also announced setting up of a community centre with modern amenities at a cost of Rs. 60 Lakh at Village Sarawaan in the memory of Gurjit Singh. He also gave a check of Rs. 1 Lakh to the family of Beant Singh who was injured in the firing incident and said that the district administration would bear the cost of his treatment. Mr Badal also assured to fulfill the demands of the panchayats of both villages.
Sukhbir spent about 15 minutes with Gurjeet’s family. The victim’s father, Sadhu Singh, told the media later: “Anyone is welcome to our house, but we will continue our efforts to seek justice. We have requested the deputy chief minister to arrest the accused in the firing incident. He has assured us that the inquiry would be completed in three months.”
