Tremors were felt in North India today after an earthquake of 6.2 magnitude struck near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, around 12:44 am. The strong tremors were felt in East and West Punjab.

The earthquake, which hit at a depth of 203.5 kilometres, had its epicenter some 280 kilometers northeast of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, the US Geological Survey said.

In India, tremors were reported from Chandigarh, Srinagar, Jaipur, Delhi and the National Capital Region.

The Delhi Police tweeted to say there have not been any calls reporting any damage or casualty as yet.
