Bhai Balbir Singh Ardasi Singh who Friday refused Siropa to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and earlier to Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal inside Sri Darbar Sahib, has said that he has nothing personal against the Chief Minister or the Deputy Chief Minister and the only reason was that the government has not acted in the incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Ardasi Singh Balbir Singh said he refused the siropa to Badal due to “government inaction” in cases of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib last year. “There were a number of incidents in which Guru Granth Sahib was disrespected, but no action was taken by the government… On the same grounds, I had refused siropa to (Deputy CM) Sukhbir Badal on January 20,” Singh told.
Talking to media after refusing Siropa to Badal, Ardasi Singh Balbir Singh said that the only reason he refused to give a Siropa to the Chief Minister was that the government had failed to act and nab culprits responsible for the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in different parts of the state. He said that he refused Siropa to the Deputy Chief Minister for the same reason.
However, Bhai Balbir Singh clarified that he has nothing personal against Badal or Sukhbir.
It is notable that Bhai Balbir Singh had refused Siropa to Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal on January 20 when he visited Golden Temple to pay obeisance.
Bhai Balbir Singh who didn’t budge despite intervention by SGPC officials accompanying Badal said that listened to the voice of his conscience and his mind which did not allow him to give Siropa. “Moreover, I did so as willed by the Almighty,” he said.
