A woman was killed for unknown reasons outside a Gurdwara Sahib in a village in Kashmir.

The woman whose dead body was found in an abandoned house in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday was stabbed somewhere else, police said.


Earlier, an official said that the woman died after being attacked outside a gurdwara in Sangri village, 53 km north of summer capital Srinagar.

An official said that Kundar Kour, 55, was a widow and that her body was found in an abandoned Pandit house at Kanil Bagh area near mini secretariat.

It is believed that Kour was stabbed somewhere else and later her body was dumped here.

Press release Today on 27/10/2015 during early morning one lady aged about 65 years (later identified as Smt. Kundan Kour Wd/O Late Karan Singh R/O Kanlibagh, Baramulla) was found lying on roadside near JK Bank branch T P Baramulla in an injured condition. The lady later succumbed to injuries in District Hospital Baramulla. Prima facia it has been established that the lady has been murdered. Case FIR No. 182/2015 u/s 307, 302 RPC has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation has been taken up.

After medico-legal formalities the dead body has been handed over to the next of kins for last rites. SSP Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the chairmanship of Feroz Yehya, DySP (Hqrs) Baramulla to investigate the murder case. The SIT has been directed to nail down the culprits and produce the case for judicial determination at an earliest. SIT has been asked to submit the progress of case on daily basis.
