(DSU News Bureau) Committee of Leamington Spa and Warwick Gurdwara defied Akal Takht Hukamame, Sikh Council UK guidelines, Sikh Rehat Maryada, and 52 Hukams of Guru Gobind Singh Ji to allow an interfaith or outerfaith marriage inside the Gurdwara.
The wedding was to be between a christian man and a girl born to Sikh parents.
Sikh youth arrived at the Gurdwara Sahib on Saturday to stop the sacrilege from happening by peacefully protesting. An eyewitness told DSU that members of committee tried to provoke the youth into being violent.
Police arrived on the scene with their shoes on further contributing to the sacrilege. However after discussions and debates, the interfaith wedding was prevented from taking place. Sikh youth in the UK published a statement a few months ago calling for protests against all interfaith weddings inside the Gurdwara.
A court marriage is always an option for those who wish to have interfaith marriages. An Anand Karaj is only between to people who’ve committed themselves to Sikhi and teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
