Kashmir (Baramulla) – At least six hundred people of Sikh community Sunday
gathered at Gurdwara of village Chandoosa (north kashmir district baramulla
village) to mark the 67th year of Martyrs’ Anniversary in the memory 22
Sikhs killed during Kabali Raid.
“This day is being observed by Sikh community as Martyrs’ Anniversary since
1947 in commemoration to 22 Sikh people who lost their lives fighting
Kabalies in 1947,” Said Inder kour, who lost her Father-in-law in the

their remembrance as ‘Shaheedi Utsav’ (Martyr’s Anniversary) during the
last week of October,” she added.
Apprising about the ‘Martyr’s Anniversary’ president Gurudwara Parbandhak
committee (GPC) Chandoosa told us that “Every year, villagers remember the
martyrs’ of 1947 with the recitation of verses of Guru Granth Sahib Ji
followed by a half day long Gurbani kirtan Darbar.”
“At the end of Gurbani kirtan darbar we start a march towards the martyrs’
park, the place where last rites of those 22 martyrs took place and at the
end we hoist our religious flag ( Nishaan shaib) and pray for them,” he
Meanwhile, Guru Ka langer (Lunch) was also distributed among the devotees
on the occasion.
