Sikhs in social media have started to express unhappiness after the ‘Lions of the Great War’ statue was vandalized on High Street Thursday night in the UK.

The suspect wrote ‘Sepoys no more’ by crossing out ‘Great War’ and spray painted graffiti at numerous places on the memorial site.

The statue was inaugurated outside the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick and was commissioned by the Gurdwara Sahib to honor Sikh soldiers who served with British forces in the world wars.

The West Midlands Police stated the suspect would be charged with criminal damage.
