Sikh Physically Attacked by Racists in Birmingham, UK Called “Raghead”

Earlier this afternoon around 5.00pm whilst walking along Birmingham New Street, I was subjected to a unprovoked racial attack in Birmingham City Centre. A group of white men came across pushed me with great force and then verbally abused me by calling me a ‘raghead’.

Having lived in Birmingham all my life, I must admit this is the first time I’ve ever come across such mobbish and racial behaviour. Having reported the incident immediately, I must commend West Midlands Police who quickly deployed over 30 police officers immediately around New Street with riot vans deployed across the city centre shortly after.

For those of you who may hold the same school of thought as the mob, We are not ‘ragheads’! We are a law abiding, hard working, and contributing community who have helped shape the United Kingdom you see today. I urge you to go online and educate yourselves a little on who the Sikhs are and read about their contributions both in this country and worldwide. It may open your eyes and you may enhance your knowledge and gain a greater understanding about our community.

Let me also remind you that our forefathers served in the British Army and fought on the front lines in both World Wars 1 and 2. I urge all my other Sikh brothers and sisters to remain vigilant and alert and don’t let such mobs get away with these racial crimes. Report them to the police and let the law deal with them! For those of you who wish to support the Sikhs, you can comment and support us with the hashtag ‪#‎IStandWithTheSikhs‬. Let’s unite and collectively say no to racism! ‪#‎saynotoracism‬
