United Akali Dal (UAD), Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) and other Sikh groups today announced to told Sarbat Khalsa on November 10 at Gurdwara Baba Naudh Singh located on Tarn Taran to Amritsar road.
The announcement in this regard was made by SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjeet Singh Mann.
Sarbat Khalsa is convening of the Sarbat (Entire) Khalsa (Amridhari Sikhs). My two-word parenthetical definition of Khalsa as Amritdhari Sikhs is the commonly understood meaning of Khalsa. Keep in mind that not every Sikh is a Khalsa but every Khalsa is a Sikh. The word mataa is counsel or a resolution by a group on an actionable matter; the prefix gur indicates that the assembly resolving an issue is of Sikhs that are acting with awareness of and in the name of the Guru.
The row over pardon granted to Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in a blasphemy case refuses to die down.
Representatives of various Sikh organisations today called for “Sarbat Khalsa” (congregation of Sikh community) on November 10.
A meeting was held at Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan, Model Town, to chalk out the schedule for “Sarbat Khalsa”.
The representatives, including SAD (A) leader Simranjit Singh Mann and All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) president Karnail Singh Peermohammad, announced to hold “Sarbat Khalsa” at Tarn Taran.
Mann said the representatives of various Sikh organisations would meet again on October 18 in Jalandhar to form a committee for charting the further course of action.
