A Sikh Elected Mayor For the First Time in Amritsar’s History


Despite Navjot Singh Sidhu’s attendance the first ever Sikh Mayor of Amritsar was elected. The winner Karmjit Singh Rintu Navjot Singh Sidhu is the local bodies minister who overlooks MCDs, Mayoral, and other local bodies in the state of Punjab.

The Sikh Councillor received a total of 6,066 votes in the municipal corporation elections.

Loyal Councillors belonging to Navjot Singh Sidhu remained absent from the announcement in Amritsar due to Navjot Singh Sidhu not receiving an invitation to attend.
