A leader of the Shiv Sena issued an apology to the Sikhs for his comments against Sikhs and behavior over the last couple of days.
Tensions had been rising as the extremist Hindu organizations had been inciting hatred and giving threatening messages to the Sikhs. Some went as far as threatening another genocide against the Sikhs, to remind the Sikhs the days of 1984.
Others challenged the Sikhs to meet face to face at any given place. Sikh youth from across Punjab accepted the challenge and gathered in large numbers at Beas. Witnessing the reactions from the Sikhs, the Shiv Sena cancelled their Lalkar Rally, but the Sikh’s Anakh Rally went ahead and was a great success.
