A video has gone viral showing a Granthi being removed while sitting on ‘Tabeya’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

On the matter, the SGPC Head Avtar Singh Makkar stated “Those who committed the offence of disrespecting the Guru ought to be legally charged under Section 295-A for instigating religious sentiments.”

A case will also be filed against those who assaulted the Granthi.

At village Nangal Kapurthala, a Granthi Singh was removed from the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji while sitting on ‘Tabeya’ by a handful of people having no respect for Guru Sahib.

The people were seen yelling at the Granthi before he was picked up and thrown down. The granthi Singh was later taken outside and beaten by the villagers.

The cause of the thrashing is not yet known but the Granthi had to get medical attention at a nearby hospital. No case was registered against any person.
