SGPC Member Resigns Amid Police Action Against Sikhs in Kotakpura

SGPC member jaswant singh purain resigned from the SGPC after police action against innocent Sikhs who were peacefully protesting the sacrilege of their Guru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Kotakpura, Punjab. The desecration of the eternal guru of the Sikhs was done deliberately but despite protests the police failed to arrested the culprits.

Instead of investigating the matter and finding the culprits, the police sought to disperse the peacefully protesting crowd. The use of lathi charge, water canons, and bullets were used to disperse the crowd. In the act of deliberate fire, 3 Sikhs were shot and killed 10kms from Kotakpur.

Worldwide Sikh groups have condemned the act and termed it a barbaric act to suppress freedom.
