The wedding of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja has gained tremendous publicity throughout the world. Many people on social media have questioned why ex Darbar Sahib Granth, Bhai Jaswinder Singh and other SGPC officials flew in a saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji from Sri Darbar Sahib for Sonam Kapoor’s wedding.
The special treatment which appears to be given to Bollywood actors was at the center of the controversy.
Another issue which has arised is that Sri Darbar Sahib ex granthi Bhai Jaswinder Singh was in hot water after pictures revealed that he did nothing to remove the Kalgi of the groom during the Anand Karaj.
The groom and bride weren’t targeted but instead the granthis and raagis who didn’t do anything to stop as they were aware of the Sikh code of conduct.
The Kalgi can be seen in the wedding pictures.
Former SGPC general secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur stated the SGPC officials present at the wedding overlooked the “Kalgi” and it should’ve been removed in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Bhaur demanded action against the Bhai Jaswinder Singh and other SGPC officials for not giving knowledge to the family members of the groom and bride.
A “kalgi” is not worn in the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as Guru Sahib is above all humans and wearing a “kalgi” is an act of equating a human to Guru Sahib.
