SGPC employee arrested for sacrilege of Gutka Sahib in Gurdaspur.
Tension gripped the historical city of Kalanaur, 20 km from here, after some angs of Guru Sahib’s saroop were found near the grain market.
Following the incident, the police swung into action and initiated measures to controlled the volatile situation.
As the word spread about the incident early this morning, a heavy police force was deployed near the site. Nakas were laid and an alert was sounded.
Some demonstrators blocked the Kalanaur-Dera Baba Nanak road for nearly one hour. They lifted the blockade when assured that the guilty will be brought to book within 24 hours.
A case under Section 295 (A) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Kalanaur police station against unidentified persons on a complaint lodged by one Amarjit Kaur, who was the first to spot the torn angs.
