The shooting of upcoming film ‘Sarbjit’ — a biopic on Indian convict Sarabjit Singh who was beaten to death in a Pakistani jail in May 2013 — had to be stopped for some time after a Ludhiana-based woman Baljinder Kaur (40), who claims to be the real sister of Sarabjit, managed to reach the sets of the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan -starrer at Narli village, 25 km from here, and created a ruckus on Saturday evening. Aishwarya was in the village when the shooting was suspended.
The filmmakers had finalised their script after consultations with Dalbir Kaur who has been widely accepted as Sarabjit’s sister and had also hogged the limelight when the issue broke out around three years ago.
“The movie is based on falsehood and its shooting should be stopped. I sent two notices to the moviemakers, but received no response,” said Baljinder, who was accompanied by 20 people, including her husband Narender Singh.
Earlier on Saturday, around noon, Baljinder had reached Bhikhiwind and staged a protest at the main crossing of the town.
