Punjabi Mom’s Cooking Drives Family Fortunes

The family business of one family in the City of Detroit is their mom. The daughter Kulwinder Kaur of Phulkari Punjabi Kitchen discusses in the video below of how her mom transformed the family business after declining video rental sales.

The mom Narinder Kaur creatively started making various Punjabi dishes at the video rental store which evolved to a full scale restaurant.

The mom would work in a factory 12 hours a day with little rest and then work at the family video store. The incredible story of how one mom transformed the lives of so many people by innovating and being creative.

The restraunt opened as an Indo-Pak in 1995 and changed to Phulkari Punjabi in 2012 due to a growing Punjabi population in the area which led to a new Gurdwara.
