Punjab Police Officer Commits 70 Robberies While on Duty

(DSU News Bureau) Constable Surinder Singh of Patiala robbed houses while on duty was arrested by a police team yesterday.

The constable was able to commit robbery after robbery until finally being caught. The shocking thing of all is that in all of the 70 robberies FIRs were registered against unknown persons.

After robbing a house, he was stopped at a roadblock where his vehicle was searched by police and found 3 lakh cash, 450g gold and some narcotic powder.


“Singh’s further interrogation resulted in the recovery of 2 kg gold, an MUV, two revolvers and 294g psychotropic powder,” said Chibbar. The accused has also invested in plots worth crores, said the police.

The accused cop was known to a have a luxury lifestyle and his wife would often show off her expensive jewelry
SHO Chibbar told reporters that Surinder was inspired by the Bollywood film Oye Lucky Lucky Oye to start robbing houses in 2008.

He added, “Surinder targeted house of working couples while on duty and robbed them the next day and would steal cash, jewelry and valuables.

Surinder became such an habitual thief that he even stole a revolver of his in-laws neighbor’s home.

The police are planning to auction properties he’s acquired through theft.

A case under sections 454, 380 of the IPC and sections 22,61, 85 of the NDPS Act have been registered against him.

The police has launched an investigation on all his robberies and whether other persons are involved.
