A curfew like situation prevails in Bihar’s Vaishali District, following the death of a senior police officer after he was attacked by a mob.
Ajit Kumar, the incharge of the Belsar outpost near the Lalganj block in Vaishali, was beaten by a mob with iron rods, after he tried to intervene in a situation where a local jeep driver of a particular community was being assaulted.
The jeep driver was involved in an accident on Tuesday, in which two people from a different community died. Following this, a mob belonging to the other community attacked the driver.
The police team that tried to disperse the mob was attacked. The police retaliated by firing at the mob. Two youngsters were injured in the melee.
