Police Arrest 6 For Assaulting Sikhs in Rajasthan


Following the viral videos of Sikhs getting beaten in Rajasthan, the police have arrested 6 in connection to the assault which includes the sarpanch of the village of Chainpura in Ajmer district.

BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa was in repeated touch with the SSP of the district to reopen the case as it occurred about a month ago. One of the victims Harpal Singh filed the FIR to gain justice against the terrifying mob attack.

Various acts of the law were used to book the culprits including sections 295A and 298 for hurting Sikh sentiments. Other persons from the video are being identified to press charges against.

The incident occurred on April 24 when locals of the area spread a rumor that the Sikhs were abducting children. The mob attacked the van of the Sikhs and brutally thrashed them. The video of of the incident went viral on social media causing the police to take action after worldwide community support for the victims came.

The matter is also being taken up by the Rajastjan Minorities Commission. The victims weren’t willing to go ahead with pressing charges but a flood of phone calls from worldwide caused them to proceed further to gain justice not just for them but for Sikhs in general.
