Canadian PM Justin Trudeau will be visiting the country of India and State of Punjab this coming weekend. However, after much controversy by the Punjab CM on his Cabinet Ministers, he will not visit the CM of the State of Punjab.
Indian media has reported that the Punjab CM would be his tour guide in and around Punjab but those plans seem to have suddenly ended. officials from PM Trudeau’s office told news outlets that no official meeting is planned for the two.
This past year, Captain Amrinder Singh refused to meet the Canadian Defense Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan after putting allegations against him on supporting pro-Khalistan movements.
Trudeau will be leaving to India on Friday and scheduled to meet with the President of India Ram Nath Kovind and PM Narendra Modi at the presidential palace in Delhi.
The Indian community has tremendous influence both in political and economic terms with a population of 1.3 million which is fast growing.
In the past ten years, trade between the two countries has reached billion dollars and business leaders from both India are expected to talk with PM Trudeau.
Cabinet Ministers Harjit Sajjan, Amarjeet Singh Sohi Sohi, House Leader Bardish Chagger and Innovation Minister Navdeep Bains. Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland and Science Minister Kirsty Duncan will join the PM on their official visit to the country.
