The Gurdwara Sahib was established in the 16th century by Guru Tegh Bahadaur Sahib after his disciple Kalyan Das wanted to know the source of the ganges to give the locals clean water to drink. Guru Tegh Bahadaur Sahib Ji told him to lift a particular rock and that’s when water like a fountain poured out.
Since than, the water has remained clean despite the Ganga river being heavily polluted. The Gurdwara Sahib was built over the fountain and a larger building was built over time.

The relics of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji remain at the Gurdwara. The Gurdwara has stored the 16th century swords, a hand written letter, and shoes of the two Sikh Gurus.
Curing Incurable Diseases
According to the head Granthi, the water has cured many incurable diseases. The granthi said diseases such as cancer, polio, fever, leprosy, joint pain goes away from the nectar drinking water.
Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji meditated stayed at the place for seven months and 13 days.
