A Pakistani Channel’s skit on Sikhs has caused outrage on social media. The skit not only humiliates Sikhs but Insults the Sikh religion said many on social media.
The skit starts out by an anchor introducing several people dressed as Sikhs with fake beards and one of them wearing a Kirpan. They show Sikhs as jokers dancing Bhangra on the stage to express their happiness on the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.
The misrepresentation of Sikhs in the skit and shown as cartoons has greatly hurt the sentiments of the Sikh people.
GurSikhs don’t go out and start doing Bhangra over anything.
Several times a man with the red turban and Kirpan attempts to flirt with the anchor and attempts to hug her. The humiliating scene appears to present Sikhs as some sort of flirtatious people who have no sense. The scene appears to show Sikhs as people who randomly start to hug people for no reason.
One person named Karandeep Singh wrote on social media, “humor is the best therapy but when it’s taken to such an extent that you are embarrassing an entire section of society and people it becomes morally wrong.”
Simran Kaur commented, “People in general do think of Sikhs has fun loving people but that doesn’t mean that using exaggeration you humiliate them. “
