A man from Canada reportedly charges $2,000 dollars per wedding with Guru Granth Sahib Ji in presence to conduct an “interfaith” “Sikh” wedding. An interfaith wedding isn’t permitted according to the Sikh Code of Conduct from the Akal Takht Sahib, which is the supreme authority of Sikhs.
The Man on his website states he’s from the Vancouver area and will conduct weddings anywhere in the world. He charges fees based on where people live and proves hospitality and other wedding needs.
Also, he further states that, ” We do bring the appropriate Sikh Scriptures and their respective materials and perform all the music for the Sikh Wedding ceremony. ”
Based on the information on a video he released it appears to be that this man conducts weddings in a private setting and not inside Gurdwaras.
Now, since he says Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji are present during the wedding, it’s a question whether beadbi is being committed or not.
He calls himself a “Sikh Priest” but in Sikhi, there is no such thing as a “Priest.” He is clearly making a fool out of his nonsikh clients who probably are willing to pay a fee to have a Sikh Wedding Ceremony done.
