Oldest Copy of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Discovered in Kenya

Via: Khalsa Lakhvir Singh

Possibly the oldest copy of the Guru Granth Sahib in Africa, brought into Kenya in the 1920s by the pioneer Sikhs of Makindu.

The massive 2452-page historic Sikh Scripture that had long been missing from Gurdwara Makindu Sahib owing to generational changes was finally found in Nairobi in the safe custody of a Sikh family who then took it to Gurdwara Sahib Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha in Kericho, before being returned to Makindu a decade ago in complete respect and honour by a specially commissioned train named ‘Sikh Guru Express’ as a tribute to the Sikh Railway builders who established Gurdwara Makindu Sahib that is rooted since 1898
