Now This Report on Waris Ahluwalia Being Kicked Off Mexican Airline

Sikh Hollywood actor was denied to board on a Aeromexico flight due to his turban and beard. Aeromexico staff members prevented him from boarding the flight due to his “appearance”. Reportedly, Waris refused to take his turban off in public and compiled enough to be allowed into a private screening room. However, officials refused and denied him entry to the flight.

USA based Sikh civil rights group The Sikh Coalition have reported that Waris Alhuwalia was denied the right to board his AeroMexico flight from Mexico City to New York City because he refused to remove his turban to do so.

This incident is yet another example of Sikhs facing discriminatory racial profiling. Alhuwalia has acted in Hollywood blockbusters alongside the likes of Denzel Washington and modelled for the likes of Gap, yet still faced the kind of discrimination many Sikhs face every day. Alhuwalia can be found on Twitter under the handle @House_of_Waris.

Waris took to Instagram on the incident:

“This is a chance for growth,” he said while waiting for another flight back to New York. “The only thing that I have right now is maybe the ability to reach some people and make a change.”

Waris posted a selfie on Instagram with a caption:

“This morning in Mexico City I was told I could not board my @aeromexico flight to NYC because of my turban” with the hashtags #FearisanOpportunitytoEducate #humanrights #dignity #lovenotfear.”
