A new Sikh Party is being planned in Punjab to challenge primarily the Akali Dal. The party is being organized by retired IAS officer Gurtej Singh.
The party is being organized as a Sikh group front against the Akali Dal. At a time when the AAP is taking a stronghold in Punjab, the primary objective of the party seems to split votes of the ruling party.
The AAP’s growth has sky rocketed after the recent win in Delhi and Bhagwant Mann recently announced the next plan of AAP for Punjab.
Gurtej Singh has said he will take all Anti Badal groups with him but Akali Dal Amritsar head Simranjit Singh Mann is currently absent in the front.
Former AKal Takht Jathedar Bhai Ranjit Singh might also join the party as he is rumored to support the objective of the party.
