(DSU News Bureau) Muslims in Afghanistan joined Sikhs in celebration of Vaisakhi, the creation of the Khalsa in 1699. The local Muslim groups spread message of harmony with the Sikhs and engaged in dialogue for the protection of the minority community.
The Sikh population has dwindled in Afghanistan during the war. The Sikhs have immigrated to foreign countries as refugees to escape from the war conditions in the past decade.
The Muslim and Sikh communities jointly prayed inside the Gurdwara Sahib where members of the Muslim community gave speeches. The leader stated he will defend the rights of Sikhs in the countries.
He went onto say that Afghans are all equal and like brothers and sisters. He further stated that no one should face discrimination because of their faith.
