‘I was not in my senses so killed teacher Rupinder kaur’: Murderer

After the shocking murder of a Batala government schoolteacher, the police are unable to question the accused, who are still under the influence of some intoxicant even after passing of more than 24 hours.

Batala senior superintendent of police (SSP) Daljinder Singh said seeing the inebriated condition of the accused, Palwinder Singh Manna and Karan Partap Singh, it appears that both of them had taken a heavy dose of heroin or some intoxicant before arriving at the shagun ceremony for which they were not even invited. Later, they also consumed liquor, which was being served during the ceremony that compounded their intoxication.

Denying any old enmity between the accused and the deceased, the SSP said the accused were not in their senses and they felt humiliated when Rupinder Kaur confronted them over lewd remarks after

which they had fired at Rupinder Kaur resulting in her death.

“Right now, we are also tracing the origin of country-made weapon used by the accused and at the same time, we are also searching the drug dealer from whom the accused used to buy drugs,” he said.

It is to be noted that till Sunday evening, the police had claimed that they had arrested both the accused involved in this incident but in a late night development, the police claimed that there were a total of three youths involved in the crime and one of them Dilbag Singh fled from the spot.

Meanwhile, a teachers’ union led by principal Kulwant Singh met deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Kirpal Singh and sough strict action against the accused. The union members also demanded immediate arrest of third accused, Dilbag Singh, who is still absconding.
“We also sought strict action against the owner of the Dhindsa resorts, due to whose laxity, the accused were able to take their weapon inside the resort. Though, the resort owner charges more than `60,000, but there are no CCTV cameras and security guards to check the people entering the premises,” he said.
