In what has to be considered a big gender gap among the support for farmers protests, female Bollywood actresses have come in support for the farmers while the male have tweeted a similar message of “propaganda against India and Indian policies.”
Sonakshi Sinha became the first actress to openly support the farmers in an Instagram story.
Following Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu and Gauhar Khan tweeted in support of the farmers.
#blacklivesmatter ….. oh that was not an Indian matter , but mostly every Indian celebrity tweeted in support . Because obviously All lives should matter ….. but Indian farmers ????? Doesn’t their livelihood matter ?????— Gauahar Khan (@GAUAHAR_KHAN) February 4, 2021
If one tweet rattles your unity, one joke rattles your faith or one show rattles your religious belief then it’s you who has to work on strengthening your value system not become ‘propaganda teacher’ for others.— taapsee pannu (@taapsee) February 4, 2021
Urmila Matondkar supported the farmers by tweeting a video:
Swara Bhaskar has supported the movement from the early days in Delhi.
Richa Chadda has come out in support of the farmers:
If, like most of the country, you've been doused in propaganda for the past few years, here's an opportunity for you to turn that TV off, get off whatsapp and watch how the world actually sees us. This is real.— TheRichaChadha (@RichaChadha) February 5, 2021
