UK activist Maria Garcia took to social media to express her concern over a Sikh man named Waris Ahluwalia was denied to board on an AeroMexico due to his turban.
Maria stated that “It’s important not to judge people” and that it’s important to know about religious gear and not racially profile due to appearance.
Maria is well aware of Sikhs as she’s worked with Sikhs in the UK in a number of human rights issues. She stated that “Sikhs are the nicest people” and that “Sikhs serve humanity.” She mentions that Sikhs responded to a number of humanitarian crisis situations with their turbans intact. She added, “Sikhs fight against tyranny and the most selfless people.”
She invited other Mexicans to respond to the recent incident and to “take the time understand who are the Sikhs and their amazing heritage.”
