DSGMC President Complains to Shi Akal Takht Jathedar against imitation of Ardas
New Delhi / 28 December 2016 – The President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Manjit Singh G.K. today in a letter written to Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh demanded strict action as per the Panthic Maryada against all those who have shown disrespect to the Sikh religion by imitating and copying Sikh Ardas. A video clip is viral in which a group of people are singing a distorted version of Sikh Ardas and according to G.K. it had pained the Sikhs all over the world. G.K. said that the copy and imitation of SiKh ardas will not be tolerated at any cost.
G.K. said that Sikh history is full of sacrifices and Sikhs never give disrespect or look down upon other religions. “Our Gurus have preached communal harmony and secularism and giving equal respect to the Mosques and Mandirs”, G.K. said. He said the incident in Rampura Phul of imitation of Ardas in which the cabinet minister of Punjab government Sikandar Singh Maluka was also present as unfortunate and appealed to the president of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbanhak Committee (SGPC) Kirpal Singh Badungar to locate the culprits and take adequate action.
G.K. said imitation and parody of Sikh Ardas is handiwork of fickle minded persons who have no respect for the Sikh religion and the fact cannot be ignored that the foundation of communal harmony in our country is because of the supreme sacrifices of Sikh Gurus. G.K. clarified that anyone who a doubt about Sikh Ardas can seek knowledge about Sikh ethos and traditions and a non Sikh could commit himself to Sikh Ardas but cannot make fun of Sikh ethos. “Ardas is a way for conveying sacred feelings and commit oneself towards the almighty but cannot be used by any one for indulging in politics and creating religious differences, even if someone is influential,” said G.K.
