Man Given Award for Rescuing Over 1600 People and Dozens of Crocodiles

A man popularly known as Pargat Singh has rescued over 1600 people and dozens of alligators from various canals and water streams in Haryana. The man received an award at a special awards ceremony in Punjabi which honored Punjabis who are actively making a difference in society.

Pargat Singh became the crocodile whisperer after a video of him carrying a crocodile on his shoulders went viral on social media few years back. The man rescued a giant crocodile and relocated in it’s natural waters out of the canal.

The man’s primary area of service is in Kurukshetra, Haryana but he became so popular for rescuing the animals that he was being widely sought out after in various other places.

However, the man’s main service to humanity is to rescue people who either drown by accident or attempt suicide. He told media persons that vast amount of people who he has rescued from the 1600 figure are people who attempt suicide.

He called on the governments to prevent suicide and create more awareness. Speaking to the media, he stated that he receives no aid from the government but he’s often contacted by officials if someone’s life is in danger.

Pargat Singh is one of the few people whose been recognized through social media for his voluntary service.
