Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Saturday claimed that nobody had denied him siropa at Sri darbar Sahib in Amritsar on Friday.
“I go to Darbar Sahib to pay obeisance, and not to get a siropa. However, I was given the siropa on Saturday,” Badal said.
Earlier, there were reports that the chief minister was denied the siropa.

SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar said Ardasi Balbir Singh had denied the siropa to Badal. The Golden Temple manager had asked Balbir to give siropa to Badal. Another Ardasi Singh oo left the spot saying his duty hours were over. Following the incident, Makkar transferred both.

Badal, accompanied by senior SGPC officials, had reached the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple on Friday morning. As he paid obeisance, the SGPC officials, including the Golden Temple manager, signalled “ardasia” Balbir Singh to honour the CM with the “siropa”, but he overlooked the instructions.

Earlier, Gurcharan Singh was deputed to present the “siropa” to the CM, but by the time Badal arrived, he had left after his duty hours were over.

Sources said the reason behind their behaviour was the government’s alleged failure to curb the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
