An RTI has revealed that 1,491 kids under the age of 18 are still missing or kidnapped in Punjab since 2013. The vast majority of the missing are said to be girls.
City of Ludhiana leads all cities in Punjab with 319 still missing with Muktsar having 128 missing followed by Jalandhar with 107 and SAS Nagar with 99.
Other cities of Punjab such as Amritsar and Taran Taran have 81 each missing with Ferozepur 71, Sangrur 65, and Patiala 64.
Activist Rohit Sabharwal filed an RTI at the Director General of Police Office in Chandigarh which showed the heartbreaking statistics.
Rohit Sabharwal filed a complaint at the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to take further action in regards to the missing children in Punjab.
Of the 8,432 kids that went missing 6,941 were traced but 1,491 were still missing or kidnapped. The data shows 5,106 girls were missing while the remaining 1,835 were boys.
