Aamir Khan’s next film Lal Singh Chaddha is a remake of the Tom Hanks starrer Forrest Gump based on a 1986 novel by Winston Groom.
The popular comedy film and the character Forrest Gump has all the characteristics of being somewhere on the Autism Spectrum.
At the time the book was written, little was known about the condition of Autism. Many children were labeled slow or of having a mental condition and it wasn’t until the 2000s that the awareness of Autism was known.
However, two japanese scientiests have come to the conclusion that Forrest Gump is for sure somewhere on the autism spectrum.
The doctors made and official an official diagnosis of Gump according to the DSM-IV autistic disorder criteria, ruling out possible alternative diagnoses such as Rett’s disorder or childhood disintegrative disorder according to observational evidence provided in the novel.
Since, Lal Singh Chaddha is a remake of Forrest Gump it’s reasonable to assume that the character will have some form of Autism.
