Khalsa Aid CEO has broken ties with the Sikh Council UK over an unannounced meeting between Sikh Council UK officials and Indian PM Modi. The meeting gathered controversy as many Sikh organizations weren’t taken into confidence and conspiracy surrounded the closed door meeting.
The CEO of Khalsa Aid Ravinder Singh issued a statement:
Khalsa Aid are no longer part of Sikh Council UK (SCUK).
Our trustees were deeply concerned about the meeting which took place between the Indian Prime Minister N. Modi and a “delegation” of Sikhs. This delegation included General Secretary of the SCUK Mr. Gurmael Singh Kondola. It was an ill timed meeting especially when there were 1000’s of protesters outside the Indian Embassy at the same time from various minority backgrounds protesting about the lack of human rights in India.
I met Mr. Kondola last month and made my views about the meeting very clear.
We are a humanitarian organisation and must act accordingly.
