She had justified Sikhs’ massacre, abused Dalits in online posts
Central government-run Lok Sabha TV has appointed controversial journalist Jagrati Shukla, who once advocated for a “genocide in Kashmir” and said the Sikhs “deserved” 1984 massacre, as an assistant producer in the channel.
Shukla has over 50,000 followers on Twitter and has updated her bio to mention that she is now a consultant for the government-run channel.
Shukla’s Twitter bio says she’s a “consultant” at Lok Sabha TV, but the selection notification on Lok Sabha website shows her name under the category of assistant producer. According to the notification, the interviews for the posts were held in December 2017. Shukla, who’s earlier worked with Zee TV and News 18, evoked multiple controversies through tweets.
Last year, Shukla, was in the eye of a Twitter backlash following her tweet in the aftermath of the murder of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru. Following the murder, Shukla had tweeted: “So, commy Gauri Lankesh has been murdered mercillesly.
Your deed always come back to haunt you, they say. Amen. (sic)” After clashes between security forces and Kashmiri citizens had intensified, Shukla had tweeted in 2016: “If we need to commit genocide in Kashmir valley to get rid of all these terrorists and their aides, then lets do it,” Following the furore, Shukla deleted the tweet. Recently, she also called former VP Hamid Ansari a “sophisticated Jihad apologist”.
