Jathedar: Sikhs Must Have Minimum of 4 Kids Due to Negative Growth Rate

The Akal Takht Jathedar maintained his position of having a minimum of 4 Children. He told reporters that in order to have a say in the political system numbers are important.

The Jathedar had issued the same statement last year so that the population of Sikhs can increase. At the current trend, the population of Sikhs will reduce from 25 million worldwide to lower numbers. The rational of the Jathedar is quite simple, there has been a population drop of Sikhs since the 1970s.

The current population is on a negative growth rate and in order to reverse the trend increase year over year numbers the minimum children a Sikh couple should have is at least 3.

The statement by the Jathedar is very controversial but it has substance because at the current trends population of Sikhs will drop from 1.8% of Indian Population to 1% of Indian Population.
